Refresh Yourself

Refresh yourself!
* Breathe deeply in through the nose and out through the mouth.
* Now say,  "Today is the first day of the rest of my life!"
*  Let the relief of a new start soak right into every part of your being.

Dare to Dream!

Dare to dream and follow it all the way!

Don't allow your fears to block your dreams. Instead, cultivate a healthy belief in your abilities.

As  Henry Ford once said, "Whatever you think you can or think you can't, either way you are right."

So start to make your dreams come true by first believing you can do so.

Hello dear friend,
The year is zooming along! I hope you are having a productive time!

How are your New Year's resolutions going?

Perhaps you remember that I was trying to get rid of the main plastic contaminants in my life. And with that goal in mind I tracked down a milkman who delivered organic milk in glass bottles.

I have been getting this milk for a couple of months now and can definitely recommend: a) My particular company Totally Welsh - see Our Products - Totally Welsh   and b) That you try the milk even for its amazing taste alone! [Update January 24: I was using Milk and More but they were bought by Totally Welsh, which is great as well!]

I've gone back to whole milk and can report that this stuff in glass bottles is really a blast from the past. Just like it used to taste. You get cream settling at the top of the bottle - just like real milk used to.

I have a theory: The majority of us got seduced by cheap milk in plastic bottles sold in supermarkets, and, in doing so, not only did we settle for an inferior product, it is a health-risk not worth taking.

I also mentioned that I was trying yoghurt in glass. That though was not so successful for me. It tasted good but I prefer thick Greek-style yoghurt and this was too thin for me. I haven't yet been able to track down my favourite kind in glass yet. Perhaps you can help me with that.

Meantime, please keep telling me what you are up to. I love hearing from you. I delight in the fact that I have readers all over the globe! So please continue to use the Contact me button below.

Love and blessings

New Year Fresh Goals!

Get the Most From a Nature Walk!
Hear the birdsong, the ocean thundering, the stream gurgling - not the stream of music flooding your ears, or even the chatter of a friend  on your mobile drowning out these soothing natural sounds.

Then feast your eyes on the source of the communication, and, breathing deeply, relax fully into the moment.

I predict that even a short walk taken this way will leave you refreshed.

Tuesday 8th January 2019

Hello dear friend,
I wish you and yours a very Happy New Year!

I wonder if you have made any new year's resolutions? Mine include trying to eliminate as much plastic as possible in my food shopping. The first item I plan to change is milk in plastic bottles. I have tracked down a milkman who delivers. He also stocks yoghurt in glass jars - so that's another product I regularly eat which I can now buy in glass. Happily both the milk and yoghurt are also organic so healthier and kinder for the cows.

When I have tried this delivery out I will let you know if I can recommend the company involved.

I have made this decision because, as you - all of us?! - know: plastic has carcinogenic properties. And now that, in the UK, the number of people getting cancer is said to be 1 in 2 - and that includes some of my closest friends - I feel that urgent preventative action needs to be taken.

I wonder what new year resolutions you have made. I would love you to let me know. To do this simply click on the Contact me button.

Put Christ Back into Christmas!

Monday 24th December 2018 Christmas Eve

Hello dear friend,
I hope you are well and have finished preparations for your Christmas celebrations tomorrow.

I am looking forward to attending Midnight Mass at midnight for a change! For the last few years this time spot has got earlier and earlier. Fortunately our parish priest is a traditionalist - hence the Mass will be held at midnight. Before this there will be carol singing. And I have manoeuvred myself into the role of "Greeter" so I will be very busy and won't have time to think about the fact that this is the first Christmas without Dad and the third without Mum.

You may be in a similar place in your life. If you are I hope that by focussing on Christ this Christmas - instead of the surrounding festivities - you will get through with a sprinkling of Joy!

Wishing you a very Happy and Holy Christmas.

Love and blessings

Teresa

Be grateful for what you have!

Be Grateful for What You Have

Are you going through a bad time right now? Perhaps your health is not good, or the bills are piling up, or there are problems at home, or whatever. There are many challenges to be faced in life.

If that is ringing bells with you try applying a little gratitude into the equation. You could start by being thankful that you woke up this morning. That you had food eat just by reaching into a cupboard. That you could walk out of the door if you wanted to.  You will surely think of plenty of things to be grateful for in your life. And if you focus on them for now that will help you through.

Hello dear friend,
I hope you are well and enjoying some sunshine! Just think, we have passed the summer solstice and the days are now getting shorter. Gosh! But, thankfully, most of the summer is still ahead so let’s make the most of it, eh.

I am happy to tell you that I have a new book on the way. It's a prayer guide which encourages you to speak to God in your own way. I will keep you posted on developments as they happen.

I see that my blog has been getting lots of hits from readers in the US. Brilliant. Thank so much for stopping by. I would love it if you left a comment and told me about yourself. I hope that you are enjoying your life Ă˘€“ whatever you are doing and I wish you a fabulous week!

Love and blessings

Summer of 2017

July 17
Take a New View

It is not the facts it is the way we look at them that shapes our reaction. Do not like something about your life? Change it!

How?

Take a good long look at yourself and acknowledge your personal contribution to any problem.

Do this, not to make yourself feel bad or in the wrong. But rather, to empower yourself. Because, when you accept personal responsibility you can make life-improving changes.

Though you cannot change, say, another person, you can choose to change yourself.  You do have choices.

And if you decide not to change anything?

Well, even deciding just put up with something is actually a choice. Acknowledging that choice can give you a confidence boost!  And then you will be looking at the facts in a new light.

Friday 7th July 17

Hello dear friend,
I hope you are well and enjoying some sunshine! Just think, we have passed the summer solstice and the days are now getting shorter. Gosh! But, thankfully, most of the summer is still ahead so let's make the most of it, eh.

As some of you may know already I have been spending the last few months visiting churches promoting my book 9 Days to Heaven, How to make everlasting meaning of your life. I am happy to report that I and the book have been made most welcome. Many thanks to all my new readers for your kind feedback.

I have a number of new dates lined up and will post details of these soon.

I also fitted in a visit to London, for a long overdue catch-up with friends. And a trip to Corfu also to stay with friends. I always have a wonderful time on that green and beautiful island. And the weather - apart from a dramatic thunderstorm - was hot and sunny so I got in lots of swimming and walking and enjoyed delicious food al fresco at tavernas. Did you catch the new series of #The Durrells? When I was there the buzz from the visiting cast and crew was still reverberating.  And the talk was of how locals were invited to be in the episodes and what fun they'd had being part of it all.

But now, it is back to work with lots of writing, but that is great too. I hope that you are enjoying your life - whatever you are doing and I wish you a fabulous weekend!

Love and blessings

Teresa

A Busy June 2015

                                Helmsley

A Different View!

If you can today, take a walk - in the city, by the sea, in a park; wherever. And as you walk, regularly: Look Up! You are sure to see something new.

Friday 19th June 15
Hello dear Friend,
Can't believe it is now June! I hope that you and yours are well! I have been on a few trips since I last wrote - lucky me!

Corfu trip
It was fantastic  to be back in my beloved Greece. The first week's weather was mixed, the second a heatwave with much swimming and walking and meeting with friends. The countryside was filled to the brim with a rainbow of spring flowers growing tall to compete for sunshine with waving grasses.
As the people continue to suffer from imposed austerity measures my thoughts and prayers remain with them. On Wednesday I read online a very interesting article on this subject in the Independent. A lot of criticism has been thrown at the Greeks but the bottom line seems to be that the IMF have indeed shamefully let Greece down.

Yorkshire
With friends I visited Helmsley, a lovely country town. Last weekend it held celebrations marking the 800th anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta. Their involvement was due to their Baron, Robert de Ros, being one the guarantors appointed at the time to ensure King John kept his word.

If you fancy a daytrip expect lots of teashops and eateries, a castle, the historic All Saints Church, and maybe, as when we visited, a square filled with gleaming Harley Davidsons and affable riders.
If you want to stay over there are some good hotels. We stayed at the prestigious #Feversham Arms Hotel and Verbena Spa . We were celebrating my friend Jan's birthday. The evening began with champagne in the Library, then moved to dinner in a private room. There was also unexpected dancing as the waiter brought us some speakers to link to an i-pad. The staff, as you can see, were very obliging, the accommodation special, and with a heated outdoor pool and spa what more could you want?!
For more details see: #www.fevershamarmshotel.com

London
I was up in London earlier this week meeting my friend Brett. We walked to Little Venice and had afternoon tea beside a pretty barge cafĂ©.
In the evening we took in the award winning show #Sunny Afternoon at the #Harold Pinter Theatre with #Kinks music and the story of the band's rise to success. It was brilliant: funny, moving, and great songs. The script was excellent and I take my hat off to everyone involved.

The next day we visited #Carnaby Street as my friend wanted to buy some baseball boots (?!) . The street was a disappointment as it is now lacklustre. I would like to see a history board at least with some photos its 60s heyday. But, my friend bought his boots at Office. See: #www.carnaby.co.uk
It was onto #John Lobb the bootmaker - for bespoke boots and shoes for men and woman including royalty. We had only popped in for some shoe polish (for Victor who creates and mends shoes in Russia and swears this is the best polish ever). It was like stepping back in time. Aproned craftsmen were building shoes on lasts with painstaking effort. Rolls of assorted leather lay on counters. Racks of gleaming shoes enticed. The Queen's coat of arms spoke its own story of the quality of goods produced here.
The person who sold us the polish (can't call him an assistant - think he was one of the craftsmen) ensured, with a demonstration, it was just the right shade of brown required. The shoes are expensive - start at £3,000+ but currently they are doing a good deal with a huge reduction if you order two pairs. What makes them different? Well, for one, as I understand it, each shoe is to last a lifetime - so repairs are free. And they look amazing and I am sure they are super comfortable.
For more info see:#www.johnlobbltd.co.uk

Next it was onto the #National Gallery at Trafalgar Square. This is my favourite gallery and the place I really developed my taste in art. I marched straight to the Impressionists section and drank in the beauty of #Monet, Manet, Renoir, Pissarro, Degas, and then onto my very favourite artist, post-impressionist Van Gough. What a pleasure to be in their company again!
For further details see: #www.nationalgallery.co.uk

This has turned into a book! Wishing you all a great weekend.
Love and blessings
Teresa
