Disasters Emergency Committee need your help!

Stay alert!  Follow the social distancing rules. Save lives.

Sunday 2nd May 2021

Hello dear friend,

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope that you and your loved ones are keeping safe in the coronavirus pandemic. What a nightmare it has turned out to be. Understatement! Just when some countries think they have it beaten - it breaks out again. Look at the horrendous situation in India. May God have mercy on them. If you want to make a donation to help them I found an organization which is an umbrella over a number of charities which are currently putting their whole focus onto India, it is the Disasters Emergency Committee. Here's the link: donation@dec.org.uk

Much has happened since I last wrote last July. For one thing my prediction that we would soon have an effective vaccine has come about. That we have a number of them is wonderful. In Wales the number of infections has come right down and so we are finally able to meet up with people outside our own households in the open air. This is a real blessing. But we are still keeping a distance between us but that's a small price to pay for safety I feel.

As I said before I have been very interested to see that during lockdown a lot of people began to look for God by tuning in to church services and programmes. Brilliant! They went to the right Person for answers.

My latest news is that I have had a debut novel accepted for publication by Roundfire Books which is very exciting! It's actually the fourth novel I have written - so I've had lots of practise! But as it will be the first in print it is my debut. Yeah!

Last time I posted that I had a further non-fiction book accepted for publication this one by Circle Books. It is a prayer guide which shows you how to have a deeper relationship with Christ through talking to Him from your heart and listening for His answers. More details on both of these coming soon.

Meantime, I wish you a safe and happy week in which to count your blessings. So, no matter what circumstances you find yourself in right now, I hope you can try to embrace the gift of life. And if you are in any kind of difficulty say this prayer, or one of your own: Dear Lord, please help me to remember that You are always with me. And that with You I can overcome every test. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen

Put Christ Back into Christmas!

Monday 24th December 2018 Christmas Eve

Hello dear friend,
I hope you are well and have finished preparations for your Christmas celebrations tomorrow.

I am looking forward to attending Midnight Mass at midnight for a change! For the last few years this time spot has got earlier and earlier. Fortunately our parish priest is a traditionalist - hence the Mass will be held at midnight. Before this there will be carol singing. And I have manoeuvred myself into the role of "Greeter" so I will be very busy and won't have time to think about the fact that this is the first Christmas without Dad and the third without Mum.

You may be in a similar place in your life. If you are I hope that by focussing on Christ this Christmas - instead of the surrounding festivities - you will get through with a sprinkling of Joy!

Wishing you a very Happy and Holy Christmas.

Love and blessings

Teresa

Be grateful for what you have!

Be Grateful for What You Have

Are you going through a bad time right now? Perhaps your health is not good, or the bills are piling up, or there are problems at home, or whatever. There are many challenges to be faced in life.

If that is ringing bells with you try applying a little gratitude into the equation. You could start by being thankful that you woke up this morning. That you had food eat just by reaching into a cupboard. That you could walk out of the door if you wanted to.  You will surely think of plenty of things to be grateful for in your life. And if you focus on them for now that will help you through.

Hello dear friend,
I hope you are well and enjoying some sunshine! Just think, we have passed the summer solstice and the days are now getting shorter. Gosh! But, thankfully, most of the summer is still ahead so let’s make the most of it, eh.

I am happy to tell you that I have a new book on the way. It's a prayer guide which encourages you to speak to God in your own way. I will keep you posted on developments as they happen.

I see that my blog has been getting lots of hits from readers in the US. Brilliant. Thank so much for stopping by. I would love it if you left a comment and told me about yourself. I hope that you are enjoying your life â€“ whatever you are doing and I wish you a fabulous week!

Love and blessings

Snow & More Snow!

Saturday 19th January 2013

Dear Friend,
I hope that you are having a great weekend! In this little Welsh valley we have been periodically dusted in snow since the early hours of Tuesday morning and temperatures have mostly been below zero. Finally on the Thursday the threatening ‘big snow’ arrived. The thick white blanket looks magical. But, as my mother remarked : “I used to love snow when I was a child - making snowballs and playing in it – but now I don’t like it very much” and I agreed because of the disruption it can bring. So, for those of you inconvenienced by snow in any way, shape, or form – I commiserate! (For friends in Oz, etc… enjoy your beach parties!)

Please feed the birds
This morning I watched as a sparrow hopped briefly onto my garage roof, flew down to ground level then up the garden steps skimming over the snow and so obviously seeking food. It was a reminder that the birds’ food sources are covered up. So perhaps you would like to put some food out for them during this time.

As I was writing that a snow plough trundled past my house clearing a track for transport. Very good. I won’t be venturing out in my car for now though. Having spent so much time in warmer climates for years I don’t like driving in these conditions. And actually, we are still on red alert in this area so…

Newsletter
As one of my New Year’s Resolutions I have been busily sending a Newsletter all around the world – to friends near and far. The last one I sent was, I think, three years ago! Oh, dear. And, I have not been much better with my Dear Diary entries, and Blog.

Hmm, my procrastination is showing!

Having prayed about this (as always) I now plan to invite posts from Guest Bloggers. In that way, I feel that they will bring in, not only an extra dimension for readers, but also introduce the element of discipline that I need! (Fellow writers, who in absence of an outside deadline, find themselves dragging things out and getting frustrated, will know exactly what I mean by that.)

I am putting this into practice from today so please visit: http://teresaodriscoll.blogspot.com/  Inspiring you to: © Be the Best You Can Be! Mind-body-soul and read the heart warming memoire:
Snaggle the Turkey Was My Beloved Pet
By Lisa Barrow (a.k.a. +Lisa Acor Laurel, author of Love in the Gardens of Macantar; A Spiritual Journey of Healing from Codependency and Relationship Addiction.)

Veggie Recipes
Please also see blog for my Red Lentil and Sweet Potato soup. Those of you interested in healthy eating will be happy to learn it is a low GL / GI recipe. There is a classic cooking method and a wood burning stove cooking method.

Newsletter Feedback
Thanks to the very many friends who have responded to my newsletter. It has been fantastic hearing your news! And thank you for your generous compliments on the content. Writer that I am, I still cannot express the deep gratitude I have felt reading your words of encouragement on my work. Suffice it to say that I was humbled by them. And also inspired to continue my simple efforts.
