Snow & More Snow!

Saturday 19th January 2013

Dear Friend,
I hope that you are having a great weekend! In this little Welsh valley we have been periodically dusted in snow since the early hours of Tuesday morning and temperatures have mostly been below zero. Finally on the Thursday the threatening ‘big snow’ arrived. The thick white blanket looks magical. But, as my mother remarked : “I used to love snow when I was a child - making snowballs and playing in it – but now I don’t like it very much” and I agreed because of the disruption it can bring. So, for those of you inconvenienced by snow in any way, shape, or form – I commiserate! (For friends in Oz, etc… enjoy your beach parties!)

Please feed the birds
This morning I watched as a sparrow hopped briefly onto my garage roof, flew down to ground level then up the garden steps skimming over the snow and so obviously seeking food. It was a reminder that the birds’ food sources are covered up. So perhaps you would like to put some food out for them during this time.

As I was writing that a snow plough trundled past my house clearing a track for transport. Very good. I won’t be venturing out in my car for now though. Having spent so much time in warmer climates for years I don’t like driving in these conditions. And actually, we are still on red alert in this area so…

Newsletter
As one of my New Year’s Resolutions I have been busily sending a Newsletter all around the world – to friends near and far. The last one I sent was, I think, three years ago! Oh, dear. And, I have not been much better with my Dear Diary entries, and Blog.

Hmm, my procrastination is showing!

Having prayed about this (as always) I now plan to invite posts from Guest Bloggers. In that way, I feel that they will bring in, not only an extra dimension for readers, but also introduce the element of discipline that I need! (Fellow writers, who in absence of an outside deadline, find themselves dragging things out and getting frustrated, will know exactly what I mean by that.)

I am putting this into practice from today so please visit: http://teresaodriscoll.blogspot.com/  Inspiring you to: © Be the Best You Can Be! Mind-body-soul and read the heart warming memoire:
Snaggle the Turkey Was My Beloved Pet
By Lisa Barrow (a.k.a. +Lisa Acor Laurel, author of Love in the Gardens of Macantar; A Spiritual Journey of Healing from Codependency and Relationship Addiction.)

Veggie Recipes
Please also see blog for my Red Lentil and Sweet Potato soup. Those of you interested in healthy eating will be happy to learn it is a low GL / GI recipe. There is a classic cooking method and a wood burning stove cooking method.

Newsletter Feedback
Thanks to the very many friends who have responded to my newsletter. It has been fantastic hearing your news! And thank you for your generous compliments on the content. Writer that I am, I still cannot express the deep gratitude I have felt reading your words of encouragement on my work. Suffice it to say that I was humbled by them. And also inspired to continue my simple efforts.

Happy 2013!

Dear Friend,
Wishing you a very Happy New Year! I hope it brings you everything you are dreaming of and more!

We have passed the winter solstice in this part of the world and have begun the upswing towards springtime. I know that sounds a bit fanciful but I like it when the days are starting to draw out instead of in. And though the coldest part of winter is approaching – snow is forecast – we are more than half way through.

My main news today is that my book, +9 Days to Heaven, How to make everlasting meaning of your life is now out as an eBook. I have been busy this week sending out a newsletter about this and with other things of interest on it. I will post that soon on my blog.

If you didn’t manage to make a gift to a charity in time for Christmas you may yet be interested in my last blog post concerning a wonderful organization called +Mary’s Meals. It is doing stellar work for impoverished children in Europe, Africa, and so on. Please see: http://teresaodriscoll.blogspot.co.uk

Still in Advent - Let's Remember the Real Christmas

Saturday 15th December 2012
Dear Friend,
December is zipping like skates on a frozen pond – and it’s almost cold enough for that in the little red valley in Wales! For those of you in the world sharing deepest winter too: I hope you are keeping toasty! For my Aussie pals, and friends in other countries currently enjoying summer – I hope you are keeping cool!

Well, are you ready for Christmas?! You may have got all the cards posted and shopping done (bar food of course) but! Are you spiritually prepared! Ooh, a loaded question indeed. By now though, you will know that I Never Preach so for a simple spiritual boost you can safely take a peek at my latest blog post: 2 Sundays of Advent to Christmas (5 days for second-class post) http://teresaodriscoll.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/2-sundays-of-advent-to-christmas-5-days.html
Let me know how you got on, eh.
In my last diary entry I promised you lots of changes. The first is a new Blog to hold back entries of Dear Diary. Please see: http://teresaodriscolldeardiary.blogspot.com/
The second is a further new Blog for inspiration on all manner of topics. Please see the first post –above – and for subsequent posts visit: http://teresaodriscoll.blogspot.com/

I still haven’t got all of those planned changes on this site as I got sidetracked on other matters. But please do check back soon for:

* New articles – on all sorts of topics - added on a regular basis.

* The  online shop that I have been promising you – in time for last minute Christmas gifts, and not only. If you want to check out what I have set up thus far please visit:

New Month Fresh Start

Saturday 1st December 2012
Dear Friend,
December has arrived! Kalo mina  (good month) – if you are one of my Greek friends, White rabbits, white rabbits, white rabbits - if you are one of my British friends. And to everyone else I wish you, in plain English, a very happy month!

I hope your week has been a really great one!  A belated Happy Thanksgiving (yes I know it’s over a week ago, but hopefully, better late than never) to all my lovely American friends! My week has been interesting, to say the least; and rather trying in some ways. But I know that everything is working together for good – as they say. And ultimately, some things are turning around in another and far more positive direction.

For one thing, some changes on this site that I have been planning for a while are now coming together nicely. So please check back soon for:

* A new website blog – for information , inspiration, and news – so, for instance, these notes I write to you will be kept on file for future reference.

* New articles – on all sorts of topics - added on a regular basis.

* The  online shop that I have been promising you – in time for last minute Christmas gifts, and not only. If you want to check out what I have set up thus far please visit:

http://www.cafepress.co.uk/heavenlygifts1

I would be very grateful if you would let me have your feedback. It has taken me forever to work out how to set up the graphics and text and tags and stuff – so complicated; for me anyway. But I have ordered some things to check for quality and delivery time and to make sure I’ve set things up right and … because the stuff is really nice. And I can tell you that I’m really pleased with the gifts! So pretty. Guess what lots of my friends will be having from me this Christmas…?

Before I close I want to take this opportunity to congratulate fellow writer, John Backman (please see his feedback on my Books page) on the publication of his book:
Why Can't We Talk? Christian Wisdom on Dialogue as a Habit of the Heart

This describes spiritual practices, mind-shifts, and “practical” steps that can reorient our deepest selves from hostility and defensiveness to curiosity and compassion. You can order it from Amazon or wherever fine books are sold. (Did you know that for new authors getting books into bookshops is very difficult?) John is a brilliant writer so the book must be excellent.  I’m looking forward to reading it and I hope that you will check it out too. Let me know what you think, eh.
Right, before this diary entry turns into a book… Wishing you a warm and wonderful weekend! Keep in touch…
Love and light

PS I recently read a book where the author said they really disliked exclamation marks. Me? I love them!! You?
