(Dear) Diary
Saturday 19th January 2013
Dear Friend,
I hope that you are having a great weekend! In this little Welsh valley we have been periodically dusted in snow since the early hours of Tuesday morning and temperatures have mostly been below zero. Finally on the Thursday the threatening ‘big snow’ arrived. The thick white blanket looks magical. But, as my mother remarked : “I used to love snow when I was a child - making snowballs and playing in it – but now I don’t like it very much” and I agreed because of the disruption it can bring. So, for those of you inconvenienced by snow in any way, shape, or form – I commiserate! (For friends in Oz, etc… enjoy your beach parties!)
Please feed the birds
This morning I watched as a sparrow hopped briefly onto my garage roof, flew down to ground level then up the garden steps skimming over the snow and so obviously seeking food. It was a reminder that the birds’ food sources are covered up. So perhaps you would like to put some food out for them during this time.
As I was writing that a snow plough trundled past my house clearing a track for transport. Very good. I won’t be venturing out in my car for now though. Having spent so much time in warmer climates for years I don’t like driving in these conditions. And actually, we are still on red alert in this area so…
Newsletter
As one of my New Year’s Resolutions I have been busily sending a Newsletter all around the world – to friends near and far. The last one I sent was, I think, three years ago! Oh, dear. And, I have not been much better with my Dear Diary entries, and Blog.
Hmm, my procrastination is showing!
Having prayed about this (as always) I now plan to invite posts from Guest Bloggers. In that way, I feel that they will bring in, not only an extra dimension for readers, but also introduce the element of discipline that I need! (Fellow writers, who in absence of an outside deadline, find themselves dragging things out and getting frustrated, will know exactly what I mean by that.)
I am putting this into practice from today so please visit: http://teresaodriscoll.blogspot.com/ Inspiring you to: © Be the Best You Can Be! Mind-body-soul and read the heart warming memoire:
Snaggle the Turkey Was My Beloved Pet
By Lisa Barrow (a.k.a. +Lisa Acor Laurel, author of Love in the Gardens of Macantar; A Spiritual Journey of Healing from Codependency and Relationship Addiction.)
Veggie Recipes
Please also see blog for my Red Lentil and Sweet Potato soup. Those of you interested in healthy eating will be happy to learn it is a low GL / GI recipe. There is a classic cooking method and a wood burning stove cooking method.
Newsletter Feedback
Thanks to the very many friends who have responded to my newsletter. It has been fantastic hearing your news! And thank you for your generous compliments on the content. Writer that I am, I still cannot express the deep gratitude I have felt reading your words of encouragement on my work. Suffice it to say that I was humbled by them. And also inspired to continue my simple efforts.
